Welcome to Saint Columba's School Bayswater

Welcome to our St Columba's School Bayswater website.

How do I begin to express the pride I feel for our students, staff and parents here at St Columba's School, here in Bayswater. I have only been here a short time and already sense a feeling of real belonging. I guess, with the mission we have been set by Catherine MacAuley through her life's example, 'we should be shining lamps, giving light to all around us,' there can only be positives happen. This mission is what drives so much of what we do, and as I reflect on this I can see this in everything we do. This gives us purpose.

Through this mission of service we are called to inspire and be inspired. It is something very unique and special for all of us, and in essence is a call for each and every one of us to step up to make our school, our place, our community, one which is true to these words. We will inspire if we follow this leadership of service for others.

The year will be filled with learning both in and out of the classroom. We will continue to see our students improving in their academic achievement, but also in their creative and physical development. With a focus on high quality teaching practices and high student engagement there is much excitement for the future. Our students continue to be provided with opportunities in performing arts and all sporting endeavours across schools and regions, as well as within our own settings. It is all about the way they represent themselves and the group, the school. I have only words of commendation to thank our students for modelling a committed and energetic attitude to all these endeavours.

As the principal of St Columba's, I find that I receive blessings in abundance. I feel inspired by the students, staff, parents and parishioners. We lead as Jesus would have led, with a concern for others and a willingness to give our best to what we do. Our role as a school, as parents and as a staff, is to work together to see the giftedness in every one of our students come alive in their learning. This is our challenge and one we continue to aspire to today and in the years to come.

I wish to take this opportunity to thank the School Board, the Parents and Friends' Association and the Pastoral Care Committee for their generosity of spirit and of their own time to contribute to the life of our school through these parent bodies. With the support and encouragement of our parent groups, our students remain centred in our decision making and thinking. Special thanks to our staff who are committed to providing the best for our students.

Enjoy browsing our school website.

All good things to you
